- There are a number of specific design aspects to be considered for pools including: Reflectance and glare, luminaire types, access for maintenance, direct lighting, indirect lighting.
- Lighting, whether artificial or natural, must minimize glare and reflections from the surface of the pool
- Light fittings must be located and angled to avoid glare or reflection, from the points of view both of bathers in the water and of staff on the pool surrounds.
- The selection of the type of luminaire is important and indirect lighting is preferable, to avoid specular reflection.
