In the afternoon, the match against Turkmenistan in Group H, the second preliminary round of the 2022 Qatar World Cup held at Goyang Stadium, added to the interest of the newly renovated stadium lighting with cool goal fireworks.

In the 9th minute of the first half, Hwang Ui-jo's pre-heading goal was scored, and the lights at Goyang Stadium were turned off and on, which cheered more than 4,000 spectators who visited the stadium. The event was repeated until Hwang Ui-jo's multi-goal and the Korean national team's fifth goal in the 27th minute of the second half, drawing fans' exclamation.

With the replacement of lights, Goyang Sports Complex will be able to meet 2,500 lux, the standard of illumination for international games. In particular, the existing fixed lighting angle can be adjusted to suit the use of the general stadium, so that it can be controlled by up and down, left and right remote and communication systems.

As a result, differential lighting has been implemented depending on events such as soccer games, track and field games, and various performances, and sophisticated lighting control using reflectors has minimized glare and light pollution, as well as significantly reduced power consumption.

"We used to use 284 kilowatts of power per light bulb, but this LED replacement saved 227 kilowatts per hour and about 1,135 kilowatts (5 hours) of average lighting at soccer games," said Gong Jeong-soo, head of Goyang City Management Corporation.
